Privacy, safety, and sharing
You should always know what is saved, who can see it, and when to ask an adult. Here is the short version.
What Youth Cocoon saves
When you use a signed-in learner profile, Youth Cocoon saves your name, checked learning tasks, course progress, reflections, and project links you choose to add. Guest course progress stays in this browser.
Who can see progress
You can see your own progress. A linked parent can help manage progress. A facilitator can view the progress of learners in their circle but cannot edit it.
Never put these in a project
- Passwords, recovery codes, or API keys
- Your home address, daily schedule, or precise location
- Your school name or private contact details unless an adult approves
- Someone else’s photo, voice, or private information without permission
Before making a link public
- Remove private information.
- Check image, music, and code credits.
- Ask an adult to review the link.
- Use private or unlisted sharing first when the service supports it.
External tools
GitHub, Scratch, Cloudflare, Figma, and other linked services have their own accounts and rules. Use free options first. Ask an adult before entering payment information, changing privacy settings, or publishing publicly.
Need help?
Stop and ask a parent, guardian, teacher, or facilitator if something asks for money, personal information, a private photo, or a secret code. You never need to rush.
